The Sea Pines Resort or Sea Pines (formerly known as the Sea Pines Plantation) is a gated community located on the western end of the town of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Sea Pines is home to 3 golf courses, including Harbour Town Golf Links, Ocean Course, and Heron Point golf courses (formerly known as the Sea Marsh course).
Sea Pines Resort is the original Hilton Head Island resort (created in 1958). It encompasses nearly 5,000 acres and is a self-contained resort and residential community offering real estate opportunities in a variety of settings. From country club style neighborhoods to beach oriented areas to the activity of Harbour Town, Sea Pines has a little bit of everything. Sea Pines is home of the RBC Heritage Classic, a premier PGA event; 28 tennis courts at the Sea Pines Racquet Club, former site of the Family Circle Magazine Cup; two marina villages; a 600-acre forest preserve; Lawton Stables for the equestrian enthusiasts, private gardening plots and five miles limited access beach. With over 5400 homes and 450 villas at various price points comprising Sea Pines, there is truly something for everyone.
Just inside the main gate of Sea Pines is a community called Club Course. The members- only Sea Pines Country Club is centrally located in this area. Because of the distance to Sea Pines amenities, the streets of the Club Course neighborhood are fairly quiet. There are no short-term rentals permitted in this area. Made up of primarily single-family homes with wooded, golf or marsh views, the residents are primarily full-time. The few patio homes in Sea Pines are located in this neighborhood.
Centrally located in Sea Pines is the area called the Plantation. This area is the largest of the Sea Pines neighborhoods, and contains a wide selection of homes and villas. The Ocean Course and Heron Point by Pete Dye golf courses are within this area, as are the Lawton Stables. Also, located in this neighborhood are the historic Baynard Ruins, the Sea Pines Forest Preserve and the personal vegetable and flower gardens for many of Sea Pines' residents. Because of its central location within Sea Pines, this neighborhood is conveniently close to many Sea Pines amenities - the beach, Harbour Town, The Shoppes of Sea Pines and the Sea Pines Beach Club.
If you are looking for a neighborhood that has it all, take a look at South Beach. South Beach Marina Village was fashioned after an old New England fishing village and offers a racquet club, variety of shops, restaurants, fishing and boat tours. The famous Salty Dog Cafe is located in South Beach. There are quite a few residential options in this area; from the very special Lands End Villas to outstanding oceanfront homes. The second and third row homes built among the foliage, offer privacy and seclusion from the resort feel of the community and are still a short walk to the beautiful beach.
Probably the most well-known area of Sea Pines is Harbour Town. A favorite destination of tourists, known for the red and white striped lighthouse, it offers a variety of shops and restaurants surrounding the yacht basin. Harbour Town also offers a variety of residential options. The townhomes located on the 16th and 17th greens of the Harbour Town Golf links are some of the hottest properties offering unparalleled views of marshes and the Calibogue Sound. If you are looking to be in the center of it all, there are several villas surrounding the basin offering water and sunset views. The Stoney Creek area offers villas as well as some beautiful single-family homes with marsh views.
There are a fortunate number of individuals who can live the dream of owning in the Oceanside neighborhood. Having an oceanfront or ocean oriented home in Sea Pines and being able to step outside your door to one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast is a moment to treasure. Most of these magnificent homes have a private pool and are attractive to investors as well as single families and second homeowners.
